Andrea has always had a love for children and the arts. Over the past fifteen years, she has worked with children in a variety of settings: as a k-8th visual arts teacher in Massachusetts and California, as a volunteer art teacher in Chile, and as a co-teacher in a private home-based preschool in Oregon. Her academic background consists of a Master of Arts in Teaching, Art Education, a Bachelor in Fine Arts, classes in early childhood education, and completion of a cinema makeup artistry program. Andrea believes art education is an essential part of a child’s development and a student’s growth. It is an effective way of teaching students about themselves, giving them a better understanding of other subjects through interdisciplinary connections, and informing them of the multicultural world and visual culture in society. As an art teacher, she uses the visual arts to provide students with valuable opportunities to learn about themselves, their community, and the world. Andrea is currently living in Pasadena with her family and frequently travels to Brazil.
