Charlene enjoys teaching piano and likes to know her students well in order to offer tailored lessons to inspire learning and boost confidence. Students may learn from classical, jazz and pop music. Her goal is to put a confident smile on the student’s face at the end of each lesson.
Charlene has been teaching piano, music theory, ear training and sight reading for more than 25 years. Students may choose to take lessons that focus on enjoying and exploring piano or they may participate in the CM (Certificate of Merit) program from Prep to Advanced Level. The CM program is a comprehensive program that includes technique, repertoire, music knowledge and sight reading. The CM program will also give students opportunities to perform at annual convention organized by MTAC (Music Teachers’ Association of California). Charlene’s educational background includes an M.A. from UCLA and a B.M. from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Additionally, Charlene is a piano evaluator for MTAC, CM, and a member of the MTBA (Music Teachers National Association).
