Radical Radishes founder Nina Zippay is a writer, mother, lawyer, entrepreneur, chef, and teacher. She is a local business entrepreneur of two education-based enterprises, Radical Radishes, a writing workshop and summer program for children and young adults, and Radical Cooks, a cooking school for both adults and children.
She created Radical Radishes with the intent for children to first experience the world and then draw down from these experiences and write. She believes that through writing children have much to teach us. We need only listen and learn.
Radical Cooks specializes in plant-based cooking by teaching students, young and not-so-young, how to incorporate more plants into their diet (and yes, that includes dessert!) She is particularly proud of the children’s cooking class series which focuses on experiential learning and self-reliance incorporating the sciences, arts, and geography into a diverse selection of children’s classes.
She is also a licensed California attorney who counsels local businesses and non-profit organizations. She currently serves as Board Chair for the Odyssey Charter School Governing Board and regularly volunteers her time with the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles as a Gold Award committee member.
