From Archimedes’ Screw to Mary Anning: Scientific Discoveries Throughout History with Coach Reese (Elementary)
Time: 11AM to 12PM
Class Description: From Archimedes’ screw to Mary Anning we will explore some of the top discoveries in science over the course of human history. I will use timelines, videos, drawings, and physical objects to help explain the discoveries. Whenever possible we will do a craft related to the discovery to help give the kids a hands on experience. And each week students will have the opportunity to choose a topic or individual about which to write a short (1-3 paragraph) report/speech to share with the class. Ideally, over the 12-week semester students will give 3 presentations or reports. The goal of these assignments is to help give students an opportunity for further exploration and understanding. It should be fun, can include drawings or objects, and ultimately help solidify the scientific discoveries in their memory.
