American Literature (High School Requirement)
Grade Level: 9th - 12th Grade
Start Date: August 20, 2020
Meeting Days: Thursdays, 9:30AM - 11:00AM
In this course, we will meet the state standards required for high school graduation as we study the great writers and poets from Bradstreet to Bradbury; the Puritans to the Harlem Renaissance. Over 2 semesters, each era in American Literature (1630-1960) will be covered. Students will enhance their critical thinking skills and develop their understanding of American Literature. Our weekly class sessions will provide a time of interaction between the students and teacher where they will engage in meaningful discussions of our weekly active readings and assignments; conduct presentations; and participate in group projects and collaborative assignments. This class will include the study of poetry and short stories, novel reviews, literary devices, composition, timed writings, and thesis statements.
Registration for this class is on Advanced Life Education (AdLIFE) website.
