Before becoming a parent, I received my B.A. and Teaching Credential in English and taught in a private high school. While there, I taught all four grade levels, ranging from basic English classes to specialized literature courses. My favorite part of teaching in the classroom was the opportunity to engage in discussions with the students, analyzing and looking deeper into the issues and philosophies presented in the literature. The book For the Children’s Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay introduced me to Charlotte Mason’s philosophies and I incorporated many of her methods into our homeschooling. My family has enjoyed learning alongside each other for over 15 years. I have loved being able to spend time with my children, watching their eyes light up when they understood a concept. I educated my children at home for all of their school years (K-graduation), and I currently have two children in college and a high school senior. My oldest daughter will graduate this year with a B.S. in Engineering. Now that my children are older, I am excited to use my experiences to help other students develop their skills. I can’t wait to see your kids’ eyes light up too! TESTIMONIALS “Students learned numerous Literature Devices and spent time understanding them and the literature. All tests were well structured. No busy assignments were placed to burden students. Teacher is definitely knowledgeable and available. At the end of the course, as a parent, I see my child blossom as a literature lover who appreciates a wide genre and style of classics.” “I like how the subjects we talk about in class go beyond the just the events of the books we are reading, how we analyze different parts and see the true symbolism the author was implying. And also, how we get feedback on our writing assignments! My biggest pet peeve in teachers are when they just give you a score and don't correct any issues they see.” “You are a great teacher with lots of warmth and genuine care. [Student’s name removed] loves you. You have very clear expectations and have organized class information very well on Google. The content and pace of the class is exactly what I was looking for too. I would trust you to teach anything, and my kiddo would be in good hands.”
