About this Instructor

LESSON FEES: $50 for a 30-minute lesson $60 for a 45-minute lesson $70 for a 60-minute lesson SUBJECTS: Drama/Acting, Improv, General Writing, Essay Writing, Creative Writing, College Application Essay, Literature, Grammar/Spelling, Reading Comprehension, Reading, SAT - English Prep, ACT - English Prep, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, Language Arts/English Jane has over 35 years of experience teaching all ages from beginning readers to college age. She has taught at public, private, and home schools. She has years of experience teaching middle schoolers and high-schoolers with an emphasis in writing, grammar, literature, and acting. She has assisted students in getting into the college of their dreams or into private schools that require the ISEE. She is adept at application help with both religious and non-religious applications as well as helping many students apply for scholarships and grants that require essays. Jane taught Freshman Writing at Azusa Pacific University when colleges began requiring writing classes to make up for the lack of writing instruction in high schools across the nation. She is also delighted to say that after homeschooling her four children, they are all college-educated, thriving gainfully employed adults. She is a highly experienced teacher and tutor with diverse subject and age-group expertise. She is recommended as a friendly and energetic professional with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL and an MFA in Theater from Brandeis University. Jane has advanced knowledge of Academic and Creative Writing, World Literature, English Grammar, and Acting for the Theater. She is very down to earth, patient, creative, and sensitive to students’ different learning styles, difficulties, and academic goals and needs. Jane has excellent abilities in teaching both group and individual concept understanding and in advancing student academic performance. She is genuinely committed to mentoring students to achieve improved academic and personal development. She is known especially for her empathetic and approachable coaching style, with years of experience in helping all ages overcome real and perceived obstacles to learning. She has a strong knowledge of human behavior, learning and motivation, and other psychological concepts. You will find her also knowledgeably adept in current and classic educational formats and trends.

All cancellations or schedule changes must be made directly with the instructor by 6 p.m. the night before a lesson to avoid a full lesson penalty fee. Some instructors may provide you with written notification outlining a different cancellation/penalty policy. This policy will supersede Home School Coaches’ policy. We truly want these lessons to support your educational goals, so feel free to share your expectations with your coach; this will enable them to provide you with a uniquely customized learning experience.
