LESSON FEES: $40 for a 30-minute lesson $50 for a 45-minute lesson $60 for a 60-minute lesson IN-PERSON LESSON LOCATIONS: San Clemente, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Irvine, Tustin, San Juan Capistrano SUBJECTS: General Writing, College Application Essay, Literature, Grammar/Spelling, Reading Comprehension, Reading, Social Studies I have lots of experience working with kids building their skills and getting them excited about reading - and writing! I enjoy getting to know my students and finding ways to connect with their interests and learning styles. Taking the time to know my students and meet them where they're at, creates an environment where learning sticks and students excel. In addition to helping students to build strong reading skills like fluency, decoding and comprehension - I also strive to engage them in the reading process by matching students with 'just right' books based on their skills and interests. Taking time to discuss what students are reading, provides essential practice in talking about and identifying key aspects of a story. I aim to make reading and writing fun, interactive, and successful! In addition to a Masters in Education, as well as PA certification as Reading Specialist and School Librarian, I offer 15+ years of experience teaching kids in grades K-6, in both public and independent schools. I currently tutor several students in San Clemente/Orange County. I've taught at the Arbor Learning Community and have worked as a Literacy Program Specialist at a children's museum. In addition, I've volunteered at a neighborhood literacy center, assessing and helping kids with their reading. I have taught English Language Arts, Social Studies and Social Entrepreneurship courses and have worked as an elementary school librarian helping kids connect with books and pursue their passions. Feel free to contact me with questions or just get to know me better - I understand how important it is to find the right match for your kids and family. I'm very responsive, open to student and family input, as well as flexible and communicative.
