ABOUT THIS TUTOR
I am passionate about writing, good communication, and helping people learn. English was my best and favorite subject in school, but it wasn't until college that I really began to fall crazy in love with the language arts. Words of authors came alive to me as they helped me discover the world through the beauty and tragedy of the human experience.
Before I received my state teaching certification, I spent four years training and mentoring college students at an international youth organization on business concepts, leadership effectiveness, communication, and time management. I have taught language arts in Washington public schools to 12th, 7th, and 8th graders, and have been a substitute teacher for students in all subjects for the past six years. I’m no stranger to the homeschooling experience - I homeschooled my stepdaughter for two years, and I have been a writing teacher on the online platform Outschool to many homeschooled students of all ages. I teach many genres of writing - essay writing, research, and literary analysis. All cancellations or schedule changes must be made directly with the tutor by 6 p.m. the night before a lesson to avoid a full lesson penalty fee. Some tutors may provide you with written notification outlining a different cancellation/penalty policy. This policy will supersede Homeschool Coaches’ policy.
