Beginner Group Piano Class: July 2024 (Mon-Thu) Grades 4-6th

Summary: This class is designed for beginners with no previous experience playing the piano. Students are required to have a piano or a keyboard that has keys between 44- 88. We will start to learn the names of the white and black keys on the piano. Studying sheet music in treble clef and bass clef. Recognize written music notes, we will be singing and playing them on the piano. We will learn about finger numbers, and where to find them in the sheet music. We are going to do easy finger exercises to improve speed, technics. A list of music pieces will be provided for students to play them during these four days course, from all time favorite classical, baroque, romantic composers, Disney songs that kids can almost immediately play for the family and friends. Please purchase an empty/blank sheet music paper booklet, so your children can learn how to write music notes as well.

About the Instructor

Amy B. is an apparel designer, entrepreneur and educator. Her background includes a business and marketing degree from California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo and an apparel design degree from the Fashion Institue of Technology in New York (she graduated magna cum laude.) While in New York, she learned the techniques of draping, patternmaking, sewing, tailoring, illustration and working in leather.

 

As a designer, she worked for several companies including, Nanette Lepore, Calvin Klein, Chaps Ralph Lauren and Pacific Sunwear. Upon returning to Los Angeles, she launched a women’s clothing collection in 2004 called Seed Clothing.

 

With a desire to give back to the community and teach the craft of patternmaking and sewing, she started developing workshops. She has been teaching for over 10 years and is currently an instructor at Art Center College of Design and teaches workshops at the Glendale Library Makerspace.
