BIO

Hello! My name is Risa Anderson, and I am a dance educator who has loved teaching children and teens for over 20 years. My journey began as a young dancer in Claremont, California, and it has grown into a career where I get to share the joy of movement and learning with students across Southern California. I studied dance at the collegiate level and hold a Career Technical Education (CTE) Credential in Arts, Media & Entertainment. Over the years, I’ve trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, tumbling, and cheerleading. I’ve also had the exciting opportunity to choreograph professionally for the Los Angeles Clippers, The James Corden Show, and even dance professionally in the movie Spirited with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. While those experiences were wonderful, my heart has always been in the classroom, helping students discover their confidence and creativity. I have been blessed to direct and build dance programs in schools across Claremont, Ontario, Fontana, and Pomona. As the owner of Fitness Results Dance, I also partner with multiple school districts to integrate dance into their communities. In addition, I am a homeschool charter vendor, which means I regularly work with families who are educating their children at home. I love the unique opportunities homeschooling provides—I get to tailor lessons to meet students right where they are, whether that means working on motor skills, building confidence, or preparing for more advanced training. My philosophy is that education should develop the whole child, not just their skills in one subject. Through dance, I teach students how to be disciplined, respectful, and persistent, but I also encourage self-expression, teamwork, and joy. I believe children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and are celebrated for their progress. My goal is for each child to walk away from class not only knowing new steps, but also feeling proud of themselves and motivated to keep learning. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I love attending dance shows and soccer games as we cheer on our own children—a dancer and an athlete. Although I am new to homeschooling as a mom, I’ve already seen how valuable it is for children to have a tailored education to encourage them to try new things and believe in their abilities. That’s why I approach every lesson with patience, enthusiasm, and the belief that every student has potential waiting to be unlocked. I would be honored to be a part of your child’s educational journey and to help them grow not only in dance, but in confidence, character, and love for learning.
