She has completed a full range of courses in child development and elementary education at San Diego State University and the College Of Southern Nevada. Alison teaches with the aim of understanding a child’s needs and motivations. “My goal is to find the best approach and utilize the appropriate techniques to most effectively connect with each student as an individual. Children are naturally curious. Creating a comfortable environment and providing the best tools enables them to enjoy learning.” She is a devoted homeschooler, having taught her own three children since preschool. She’s highly involved in multiple homeschool communities, was a board member of a large Virginia homeschool group (1000+ students), and has created her own California homeschool group -- focusing on community, parent support, and educational activities. As for quality family time, she especially enjoys the excitement of live theater, the discovery of new museums, and the simplicity of family reading time on a comfy couch with a cup of tea.
