About this Instructor

LESSON FEES: $40 for a 30-minute lesson $50 for a 45-minute lesson $60 for a 60-minute lesson IN-PERSON LESSON LOCATIONS: Pasadena, Altadena, La Canada, Eagle Rock, Highland Park, South Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, Arcadia, Alhambra SUBJECTS: Acting, Public Speaking/Debate, Dance, General Writing, Creative Writing, Reading Comprehension, Economics, Geography, Government, History, Social Studies, General Art, Arts and Crafts - Art Around the World My main source of inspiration and the philosophy I used was Charlotte Mason. It was her teachings that drove my approach to homeschooling. We used real literature, no text books, we immersed ourselves in the subjects and went deep. Grades and tests were not a big part of our practice, we focused on application and understanding. My kids learned to love learning, they are creative and now have a good work ethic. During the homeschooling years, I taught several classes at the co-op school, WISH. I learned a lot by watching other parents, incorporating my Charlotte Mason techniques, and developed my own curriculum and classes. I taught Economics, Creative Writing, Art Around the World (geography), and dance. My students enjoyed my classes and I enjoyed teaching them. I want to make learning fun for students, help them understand the material, not just for getting a good grade, but to appreciate it and use it in the future. Curiosity and the ability to focus and learn is critical. Working with kids on their level can support this.
