About this Coach

LESSON FEES: $40 for a 30-minute lesson $50 for a 45-minute lesson $60 for a 60-minute lesson IN-PERSON LESSON LOCATIONS: Pasadena, Arcadia, Altadena, San Marino, San Gabriel, Monrovia SUBJECTS: General Writing, Essay Writing, Literature, Grammar/Spelling, Reading Comprehension, Reading, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, Language Arts/English, Math Concepts/Intervention, Math Games/Foundations, Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Saxon, Math-U-See, Geography, Government, Crochet, Public Speaking/Debate COACH BIO: Rachel earned her B.A. in Modern Literary Studies at UC Santa Cruz and her J.D. at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. She homeschooled both of her girls, one until 7th and the other through 10th grade. She also has ADHD. When she is practicing law part-time, Rachel would rather be tutoring young people in reading, math, and handwriting because it brings her so much joy. Rachel is experienced in helping children with a wide range of abilities and levels of confidence. She knows every child learns differently, so she always keeps a few tricks up her sleeve for when kids feel stuck. She is familiar with several reading and math curricula and their learning methods and styles. When she is not working or tutoring, she can be found walking her two dogs, gardening, crocheting or playing games.

Important Notes

All cancellations or schedule changes must be made directly with the instructor by 6 p.m. the night before a lesson to avoid a full lesson penalty fee. Some instructors may provide you with written notification outlining a different cancellation/penalty policy. This policy will supersede Home School Coaches’ policy. We truly want these lessons to support your educational goals, so feel free to share your expectations with your coach; this will enable them to provide you with a uniquely customized learning experience. Should you ever feel that these lessons do not match your expectations, please contact us to receive a refund on your remaining balance or to be matched with a different instructor.
