About this Instructor

SUBJECTS WITH GRADE LEVEL: All Grade Levels: Reading Comprehension, Reading, Brain Games for Increased Memory, Focus, and Processing IN-PERSON LESSON LOCATIONS: Santa Paula Maura loves to help struggling students overcome their difficulties with reading and reading comprehension, guiding them from frustration and embarrassment in these areas to ease and proficiency. Maura earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College in 2018. She worked for a summer as a reading tutor at Lindamood Bell, and for the last year has worked as a private tutor. She delights in this work that brings so much hope to children and families alike! In addition to her experience from Lindamood Bell, she is trained in the Barton Reading and Spelling System, Foundation In Sounds, and certified in the Equipping Minds Cognitive Development Program. Maura truly loves walking with and encouraging students and will help them according to their specific needs to gain: accurate phonemic awareness, proficiency in decoding, strong mental imagery and articulation of ideas to enable and enhance their comprehension, accurate and speedy processing, strengthening of memory and focus, ability to organize and comprehend the parts and whole of a story, and ability to follow directions. All cancellations or schedule changes must be made directly with the instructor by 6 p.m. the night before a lesson to avoid a full lesson penalty fee. Some instructors may provide you with written notification outlining a different cancellation/penalty policy. This policy will supersede Home School Coaches’ policy. We truly want these lessons to support your educational goals, so feel free to share your expectations with your coach; this will enable them to provide you with a uniquely customized learning experience. Should you ever feel that these lessons do not match your expectations, please contact us to receive a refund on your remaining balance or to be matched with a different instructor.
